Example

A furniture dealer quotes an office 10 ergonomic chairs at ₹4,500 each with 18% GST, valid for 15 days, “50% advance with order, balance on delivery”. The quotation shows a taxable value of ₹45,000, GST of ₹8,100 and a total of ₹53,100. The office accepts, and the dealer creates theGST invoice from the same details.

Tips for quotations that convert

  • Describe each item clearly — model, size, brand or scope of work.
  • State validity and delivery time so expectations are clear.
  • Mention what's not included (installation, transport) to avoid disputes.

Frequently asked questions

What should a quotation include?
Your business name and contact details, the customer’s name, a quotation number and date, a clear list of items or services with quantities and prices, taxes, the total, how long the prices are valid, and your terms — payment schedule, delivery time and what is not included.
Is a quotation the same as an invoice?
No. A quotation (or estimate) is an offer made before the work, which the customer can accept or decline. An invoice is a demand for payment after you supply goods or services. Once a quotation is accepted, create the invoice with our GST invoice generator.
Should I add GST to a quotation?
If you are GST-registered, showing the tax separately avoids surprises. If you prefer to quote a base price, untick “Include GST” and write “GST extra as applicable” in the terms.
Can I save my company details?
Yes — tick “Remember my business details” and they are stored on this device for your next quotation or invoice. Nothing is uploaded.
