About Guess the Cricketer
Guess the Cricketer is a daily puzzle for cricket fans. There's one mystery international cricketer each day โ maybe a modern superstar, maybe a legend from the 90s. You don't get a photo; instead, each guess reveals how close you are: same country, same role, same batting hand, same bowling style, and whether the mystery player was born before or after your guess. It's a test of real cricket knowledge, and a great way to settle arguments in your WhatsApp group.
How to play
- Start typing any player's name (nicknames like โThalaโ, โHitmanโ or โBhajjiโ work too) and pick from the list.
- Read the five clue tiles. Green = match. On Born, orange means within 3 years, and โ/โ tells you to go younger or older.
- Narrow it down and find the player within 8 guesses.
- Share your result grid and come back tomorrow to keep your streak alive.
Smart guessing strategy
Start with a player who splits the field well โ for example a left-handed Indian all-rounder who bowls spin, born in the late 1980s. Whatever comes back green or grey removes a big chunk of possibilities. Use the birth-year arrow like a number-guessing game: halve the gap each time.
Example
You guess Ravindra Jadeja (India, all-rounder, left-hand bat, spin, born 1988). The tiles show India โ , Role โ, Bats โ, Bowls โ and Born โ 1988. So the answer is an Indian right-hander who isn't an all-rounder and doesn't bowl spin, born before 1988 โ think Dhoni, Dravid, Sehwag or Zaheer Khan.
Who's in the game?
The player pool covers 77 of the most famous names in international cricket across ten countries. Clues use stable career facts only โ not IPL teams, which change every season.
