    A daily five-letter word puzzle

One word a day, six chances to find it. Daily Word Guess is a quick vocabulary puzzle for your morning chai: type any five-letter word, and the coloured tiles tell you which letters are right, which are in the wrong place and which aren't in the word at all. Use those clues to close in on the answer. Your streak and stats are saved on your phone, and you can share your result grid on WhatsApp without giving away the word.

    How to play

    1. Type a five-letter word and press Enter.
    2. 🟩 right letter, right spot · 🟨 right letter, wrong spot · ⬜ not in the word.
    3. Find the word within six guesses. A new puzzle unlocks at midnight.

    Tips for solving faster

    • Start with common letters — words with A, E, R, S, T and two vowels give the most information.
    • Use every clue: keep green letters in place and move yellow ones to new spots.
    • Watch for doubles like the two Ls in “label” or the two Es in “sheep”.

    Example

Suppose the answer is PAPER. You open with APPLE: A is yellow, the first P is yellow, the second P is green, L is grey and E is yellow. Next, PAPER fits every clue — five greens in two guesses. Share the grid (🟨🟨🟩⬜🟨 / 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩) with friends. Enjoy daily puzzles? TryGuess the Cricketer and Guess the Stock Chart.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I play Daily Word Guess?
Guess the hidden five-letter English word in six tries. After each guess, green means the letter is in the right spot, yellow means it is in the word but in a different spot, and grey means it is not in the word at all.
When is a new word available?
Every day at midnight (your local time). Everyone gets the same word on the same day, so you can compare results with friends without spoilers using the share button.
What if a letter appears twice?
Colours follow the real count of each letter. If you guess a word with two Es and the answer has only one, only one E is coloured — the other turns grey.
Can I play more than once a day?
Yes — after today’s word, tap “Practice” for unlimited random words. Practice games don’t affect your streak.
Why was my word not accepted?
Guesses must be real five-letter English words from our list. Names, abbreviations and very rare words aren’t included.
