Make a GST invoice in minutes
Freelancers, shopkeepers and small businesses need proper tax invoices — but accounting software can be expensive and complicated. This free GST invoice generator creates a clean, professional tax invoice with all the details GST rules ask for: GSTINs (validated as you type), HSN/SAC codes, CGST and SGST or IGST worked out automatically from the place of supply, a GST summary for mixed rates, round-off and the total in words. Download it as a PDF or print it, and your business details are remembered for the next invoice.
How to create an invoice
- Fill in your business details and GSTIN once — tick “Remember” to keep them.
- Add the customer's details and state (this decides CGST + SGST or IGST).
- Add items with HSN/SAC code, quantity, rate and GST rate.
- Check the preview, then Download PDF or Print. Use “New” for the next invoice number.
Example
A web designer in Pune (Maharashtra, state code 27) bills a client in Bengaluru (Karnataka, 29) ₹25,000 for website design (SAC 998314) at 18%. Because the place of supply is another state, the invoice shows IGST ₹4,500and a total of ₹29,500 — “Rupees Twenty-Nine Thousand Five Hundred Only”. Billing a client in Mumbai instead, it would show CGST ₹2,250 + SGST ₹2,250.
Good invoicing habits
- Number invoices consecutively within each financial year (for example INV/26-27/001).
- Check the HSN/SAC code and rate for each item — rates changed under GST 2.0 in September 2025.
- Keep copies of every invoice for your GST returns.
- Work out GST on a single amount with the GST calculator; send estimates first with the quotation maker.
