What do you want?

A fair random picker for any group

Lucky draw at the office party, choosing who answers first in class, picking a giveaway winner from Instagram comments, or deciding who washes the dishes — this random name picker settles it fairly in a second. Paste a list, choose how many winners, and watch the draw. Switch to Make teams to split players for gully cricket, a quiz or a group project into balanced, random teams.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste names, one per line.
  2. Choose Pick winners (and how many) or Make teams (and how many teams).
  3. Tap the button. Copy or share the result.

Ideas for using it

  • Giveaways: paste commenters' usernames and draw a winner on a live stream.
  • Classrooms: pick students for questions without favouritism.
  • Sports: make two cricket or football teams in seconds.
  • Chores and turns: decide who goes first in board games or who orders the food.

Example

Twelve friends want a 6-a-side football match. Paste the twelve names, choose Make teams with2 teams, and you get two random teams of six. For a quick 3-question quiz in class, pick3 winners and tick “Remove winners” so the same student isn't picked again in the next round. Want a fun result to share? Try FLAMES.

Frequently asked questions

Is the random name picker really fair?
Yes. It uses your browser’s cryptographic random number generator (the same kind used for passwords) with an unbiased selection method, so every name has exactly the same chance.
Can I pick more than one winner?
Yes. Set the number of winners — each name can win only once per draw. Tick “Remove winners from the list” to run the next round without them.
How do I split people into teams?
Switch to “Make teams”, enter the number of teams, and tap the button. Names are shuffled fairly and dealt out so team sizes differ by at most one.
Can I paste names from Excel or WhatsApp?
Yes — paste one name per line (a column copied from Excel works), or a single line separated by commas. Blank lines are ignored, and you can remove duplicates automatically.
