Convert land measurement units of India
Buying a plot, reading an old sale deed or comparing farm land? India measures land in dozens of local units — abigha in Assam is not the same as a bigha in Bihar, while South India counts in centsand guntha, and Punjab in kanal and marla. This land area converter converts any of them to acres, hectares, square feet, square metres and gaj at once, using the commonly accepted value for each state.
How to use it
- Enter the area and choose its unit.
- For bigha, katha or biswa, pick your state's standard.
- Read every equivalent in the table.

Example
A farmer in Gujarat owns 3 bigha. At 17,424 sq ft per bigha that is 52,272 sq ft — about1.2 acres or 0.49 hectare, and exactly 48 guntha. The same 3 bigha in Assam would be only 43,200 sq ft (about 0.99 acre). That is why sale deeds should always also state the area in square metres or acres.
