Working days calculator

Calendar days and working days are very different when you're planning a project, a notice period or a delivery date. This working days calculator counts the business days between two dates, excluding Sundays and Saturdays the way your workplace does — a 5-day week, a 6-day week, or the2nd and 4th Saturdays off rule followed by Indian banks. Exclude the fixed national holidays with one tick, and paste in your own holiday list for exact results.

How to use it

  1. Choose the start and end dates (both are included).
  2. Pick how Saturdays are treated, and add holidays if needed.
  3. Read the working days and the month-by-month breakdown.

Example

October 2026 has 31 days. With all weekends off it has 22 weekdays, and excluding Gandhi Jayanti (2 October) leaves21 working days. For a bank, which works on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturdays, the same month has 24 working days after the holiday. To find the date a number of working days away, useadd or subtract days.

Frequently asked questions

How are working days counted?
Every date from the start date to the end date is counted, including both. Sundays are always excluded; Saturdays are excluded according to the rule you choose, along with any holidays you add.
Which Saturdays are bank holidays in India?
RBI rules make the second and fourth Saturdays of every month holidays for banks, while the other Saturdays are working days. Choose “2nd & 4th Saturdays off” to match bank working days.
Are public holidays included?
You can tick the three fixed national holidays — Republic Day (26 January), Independence Day (15 August) and Gandhi Jayanti (2 October). Other holidays vary by state and year, so add them yourself (one date per line) from your state or company holiday list.
Can I use this for notice periods or SLAs?
Yes — it’s useful for notice periods, project timelines, delivery promises and service-level agreements. Check whether your contract counts the first day; if not, start from the next day.
