Test your mic and webcam online
Nothing is more awkward than joining an interview or online class and hearing “we can't hear you”. Thismic and webcam test checks both in seconds: see a live camera preview with its resolution, watch your microphone's level move as you speak, and record a short clip to hear how you actually sound. It runs entirely in your browser — no app to install, and nothing is uploaded.
How to use it
- Tap Test camera and allow access when your browser asks. Switch between cameras if you have more than one.
- Tap Test microphone, allow access and speak — the bar should move.
- Tap Record 5 s, say a sentence, then play it back.
Fixing common problems
- Permission blocked: click the camera icon in the address bar → Allow, then reload the page.
- Camera in use: close other video apps; only one app can use most webcams at a time.
- Mic level flat: choose the right microphone in the list, check the hardware mute switch and your system sound settings.
- Echo or noise: use earphones, move away from fans, and keep the mic 15–20 cm from your mouth.
Example
Before a Google Meet interview, you open this page: the camera shows 1280 × 720, but the mic bar stays flat. The list shows “Default – Stereo Mix”; switching to your headset microphone makes the bar jump when you speak, and the 5-second playback sounds clear. Now select the same microphone in Meet's settings.
