Convert JPG, PNG and WebP images

Some websites only accept JPG, a design needs a PNG with transparency, or you want smaller WebP files for your blog. This image converter switches images between JPG, PNG and WebP in one go โ€” choose several files, pick the format and download the results. Transparent PNGs get a solid background when converted to JPG, and the whole process runs on your own device.

    How to use it

    1. Choose one or more images (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF or BMP).
    2. Select the output format and quality.
    3. For JPG output, pick a background colour for any transparent areas.
    4. Tap Convert and download each file.

    Which format should you choose?

    FormatBest forTransparency
JPGPhotos, forms that only accept .jpgNo
    PNGScreenshots, logos, text, graphicsYes
WebPWebsites and sharing โ€” smallest filesYes

    Example

A 2.4 MB PNG screenshot of a photo converted to JPG at 90% quality typically becomes around350 KB; as WebP, around 250 KB. A logo with a transparent background should stay PNG or WebP โ€” converted to JPG it would get a white box behind it.

To also shrink the size, use the image compressor; to change dimensions, use the image resizer.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I convert PNG to JPG?
Choose your PNG files, select JPG as the output format and tap Convert. Transparent areas become the background colour you choose (white by default), because JPG doesnโ€™t support transparency.
What is WebP and should I use it?
WebP is a modern image format by Google that makes files roughly 25โ€“35% smaller than JPEG at the same quality, and it supports transparency. It works in all current browsers and on WhatsApp. Use JPG when a website or form only accepts .jpg.
Can I convert iPhone HEIC photos?
Only if your browser can open HEIC (Safari on iPhone and Mac can). On other devices, set your iPhone camera to โ€œMost Compatibleโ€ (Settings โ†’ Camera โ†’ Formats) so new photos are saved as JPG.
    Will converting reduce quality?
Converting to PNG is lossless. Converting to JPG or WebP uses compression; at the default 90% quality the difference is practically invisible.
    Are my images uploaded?
No. Conversion is done in your browser, so your files never leave your device.
