    Calculate your marks percentage

Results day, college admissions, scholarship forms โ€” they all ask for your percentage. Thismarks percentage calculator takes the marks you scored in each subject and instantly gives your overall percentage, the best-of-five percentage many boards and colleges use, your division and a subject-by-subject breakdown so you can see your strongest and weakest areas.

    How to use it

    1. Type each subject's name, the marks you got and the maximum marks (usually 100).
    2. Use + Add subject for more subjects, or โœ• to remove one.
    3. Tick Best of 5 to count only your five highest-scoring subjects.

    Percentage formula

Percentage = (Total marks obtained รท Total maximum marks) ร— 100

    Example

    Marks of 82, 74, 91, 88 and 79 out of 100 in five subjects add up to 414 out of 500. The percentage is 414 รท 500 ร— 100 = 82.8% โ€” a distinction in most boards. If a sixth subject (say IT, 95/100) were added and best-of-five applied, Hindi (74) would be dropped and the percentage would rise to (82 + 91 + 88 + 79 + 95) รท 5 = 87%.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate the percentage of my marks?
Add up the marks you obtained in all subjects, divide by the total maximum marks and multiply by 100. For 414 out of 500: 414 รท 500 ร— 100 = 82.8%.
What is the โ€œbest of fiveโ€ percentage?
Many boards, including CBSE for Class 12, let students and colleges calculate the percentage using the five subjects with the highest marks. Turn on โ€œBest of 5โ€ and the calculator automatically picks those subjects.
    What percentage is first division?
Commonly, 60% or above is first division, 45โ€“59% second division and 33โ€“44% third division or pass, with 75% and above often called distinction. Exact cut-offs vary by board and university, so check your own rules.
Do practical and internal marks count?
Yes โ€” most boards add theory, practical and internal assessment marks to give the subject total. Enter the combined subject marks and the subjectโ€™s maximum (often 100).
Can I use this for college semester marks?
Yes. Add each paper as a row with its marks and maximum marks. If your college uses SGPA/CGPA instead, use our CGPA to percentage calculator.
