Tip calculator and bill splitter

Dinner with friends, a team lunch or a family outing — the bill arrives and everyone reaches for their phone calculator. This tip calculator adds the tip, splits the total between any number of people and rounds each share up to a neat amount, so paying by UPI is quick. Send the split to your group on WhatsApp in one tap.

How to use it

  1. Enter the bill amount.
  2. Choose the tip percentage (0 if a service charge is already included).
  3. Enter how many people are paying.

Example

Four friends have a ₹2,400 dinner and want to leave a 10% tip. The tip is ₹240 and the total ₹2,640, so each pays ₹660. With five people, it's ₹528 each, rounded up to ₹530. Splitting the cost of a whole trip instead? Use the fuel cost calculator, or pick who pays next time with the random name picker.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I tip in a restaurant in India?
Tipping is optional. Around 5–10% of the bill is common in sit-down restaurants for good service, and many people simply round up. Tip more for exceptional service, nothing extra if a service charge is already included.
Is a service charge compulsory?
No. Under the Central Consumer Protection Authority’s guidelines, restaurants cannot add a service charge by default or force you to pay it. If one appears on the bill, you can ask for it to be removed.
Should the tip be on the amount before or after GST?
Most people tip on the food total before GST, but either is fine — choose the base in the calculator.
How do I split the bill when some people had more?
Split the shared items equally here, then add each person’s individual items separately. For quick group bills, round up each share so the waiter gets a neat total.
